On 22 August 2006 the NSW Government announced changes to the management of groundwater in areas that sit above the Botany Sands Aquifer. Information regarding these changes can be found on the Department of Natural Resources website: www.naturalresources.nsw.gov.au/water/botany_bay.shtml#3 or by phoning the NSW Government Botany Groundwater Hotline on 1800 237 012.
These changes do not affect the Groundwater Extraction Exclusion Area around the Orica Botany Site (which the Department of Natural Resources web site now calls Zone 1 and is marked in red in their diagram of the Zones). Orica's Rainwater Tank Rebate and residential bore monitoring programs remain unchanged.
